I am a 20-year-old aspiring computer programmer attending Loyola University Chicago. I am interested in XML, SQL, and design, and have used C++, PHP, Java, Visual BASIC, and Python (in descending orders of expertise).
I used to have a link to a list of books that I would recommend. I didn't think that page deserved a home on my new site, so instead I'll just list off a few of my favorite works, without classification or order:
I've taken down my former movie recommendation list. You can view my movie collection, which should give you a good idea of what I like.
I am now attending Loyola University of Chicago. I study Computer Science and Mathematics here, and I think I would like to get a history minor as well.
Choosing Loyola was tough. I had applied to a few schools, but I didn't get into my top choices (most notably MIT, which I dream of in my sleep). I was accepted to the University of Michigan, University of Illinois, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and finally Loyola University of Chicago, which I had applied to partly on a whim, because it was easy, and at the suggestion of a friend.
For some reason, I chose this school. It's small, but not too small. It's in a large city, but on the outside of it. It's far enough away from home -- 3 hours or so -- but close enough to go back for the weekend. It just seemed right. The only other school I was seriously considering was U of M, but it seemed too large and "bleak," and where Loyola gave me very generous offers to attend the school, U of M hardly noticed anything I had done.
